Happy Holidays From Our Class

We celebrated the holiday season and all of our hard work so far this year with some holiday fun! We made huge snowflakes, ate some snacks, and played "Jingle Bingo." We also had a special package to open that was filled with gifts for our glass.
Have a very merry Christmas and happy New Year!

Homework Packets

Students will be coming home today with a white and a pink homework packet with reading logs attached for the next two weeks. The purpose of the homework is for the students to keep their brains academically active and prevent regression while we are away from school. The material is all review and should be stress free. It will only be effective if a little is done each day or two; sitting down and rushing through the packets in one sitting will not serve the purpose of the packets. Answers are provided for students to self correct and eleminate stressful sitations if something is not clear or doesn't make sense. Please encourage  your child to use the answer key for the intended purpose. The white packet is due Wednesday, January 2. The pink packet is due Friday, January 4. It would be wonderful if the students could put in some extra reading time since they will be missing at least 215 minutes of sustained reading that they would  normally have in school.

Thank you for extending your students learning at home.

I love running and have completed my first 5K.
My favorite movie is the "Wizard of Oz."

Turkey Facts and Opinions

Differentiating between facts and opinions can be tricky, but not when we're talking about turkeys! Ask your child the difference between a fact and an opinion. It is a fact that, "I love ice cream." It is an opinion that ice cream is the best food on earth.

Another Birthday Celebration!

Don't Forget...

Skating permission slips and money are due tomorrow, Friday, November 16.

Let's Celebrate With a Read-a-Thon!!

We have been practicing our “stamina” in reading class. We are able to read for at least 45 minutes. It is exciting to see such voracious readers!! We are also proud of ourselves for practicing our reading at home. Everyone met their reading goal for the months of September and October.

We want to celebrate our accomplishments by having a Read-In on Wednesday, November 21.  It is a time to kick back and enjoy the written word.  The kids may bring a sleeping bag (or blanket), pillow and treat to enjoy during their reading time.  They should also bring plenty of reading material. All drinks should be decaffeinated and have a cap that can close.
