This year we will be learning to become better writers by participating in writers workshop. We will begin by collecting stories of our lives in our writer's notebooks!

We're in the Groove of School

We had a nice finish to the end of the second week. Our class is staring to catch on to routines and procedures. Please ask your child for his/her T.W.I.R.L. book this weekend. We had lots of great ideas for our web today. We are getting into a regular math routine and our reading workshop is being launched. Be watching for a letter about Words Their Way that will be coming home on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

Our September Mystery Reader...Mrs. Wang!!

After guessing, Mr. Otto-Fisher, Mrs. Zimmerman, and Mr. Keonen as possible Mystery Readers during our morning meeting, by afternoon our 4th grade detectives figured out it was Mrs. Wang. They saw her coming out of another classroom carrying a book and put the pieces together. Mrs. Wang read The Curious Garden by Peter Brown. Ask your child to share the message of the story with you.

Mystery Reader

Our first Mystery Reader will make an appearance in our classroom tomorrow. Once each month we will have a different mystery reader visit our classroom and read a book of his/her choice to us. The person will provide three clues that I will disclose to the students one at a time a few days before his/her visit. Our first Mystery Reader gave me these clues.

Off to a Great Start!!

We've had a busy and productive first couple of days. Lots of procedures are being practiced along with some fun activities like the Colored Dot Game, Silent Birthday Line Up, and Simon Says. We have used guided discovery to review and practice the correct uses of pencils, colored pencils, and permanent markers. We used these tools to create our class birthday graph!
