Health Office Visits

The district is noticing an increasing number of students visiting the health office. We need to be sure the health office is being utilized for real injures and illnesses. The following are health office guidelines:

1.       Students with a legitimate illness or injury with special attention to head injures.

2.      Teachers will use their discretion when sending students with a sore neck, sore knee, etc. There is usually no treatment that can be done in the health office, so having the students sit down and rest in class is usually the best option.

3.       Emotional issues will be directed to the school counselor.

4.       Our classroom is equipped with band-aids for small cuts and Kleenex. This is meant to minimize the time students are out of class.

5.       The health office is not equipped to provide students with lotion, chap stick, cotton balls, q-tips, vasoline, or cough drops, except in an emergency. Students must bring these supplies from home if they require them.

6.       Students with serious health concerns, such as severe illness, diabetes, and serious injury will be escorted to the health office by a responsible student or staff member. All other students will go alone. When a student does escort a classmate, the escort should remain outside the health office.
